What kinds of primers and varnishes does Pictzi use? To protect the air our clients breathe, Pictzi uses low-VOC, vapor permeable primers and varnishes, including MuralGuard Varnish and Benjamin Moore Eco Spec Interior Latex Primer.

At what intensity does your UV lamp operate? Our UV lamp outputs between 8 and 12 watts per square centimeter at roughly a 395 nanometer wavelength.

Is it safe for your eyes if you look at the UV lamp? No. Operators who have prolonged, repeated indirect exposure to the lamp must wear sunglasses to block 99% of UV rays. To reduce the likelihood of accidental excessive exposure, Pictzi puts up an optical shield around the work area.

How high can you print? Without scaffolding, we can print as high as 12 feet, provided the ceiling is 13.2 feet.

How low can you print? We require 1.2 feet of clearance between the floor and the bottom of the image.

How close to a corner can you print? We need a 1.2 foot margin from walls, jambs, and insets.

What is the maximum width you can print? Our maximum print width is the length of your walls minus 2.4 feet.

What are the benefits of having margins? Baseboards and corners are where walls frequently sustain accidental damage, so our prints are less likely to be caught in the crossfire. And, like art in museums, margins accentuate the beauty of the images without the distraction of surrounding context.

How fast can you print? Our printer can render 15 to 20 square feet per hour at production resolution.

How long does setup take? After preparing the surface, it takes roughly 1 hour to assemble, level, and calibrate the printer onsite.

What colors can you accurately reproduce? We print with CMYK, which means we can reproduce the same color gamut as typical photos.

At what resolution do you print? We print most images at 12-passes and 1200 DPI.

How quiet is the printer? While printing, the volume is about the same as an electric toothbrush.

How does the ink dry instantly? Our printer has a UV lamp and inks designed to cure instantly when exposed to UV light.

Can you print white ink? Yes, our machine is equipped with a dedicated white ink channel, allowing us to print vibrant images on dark-colored walls, or to print artistic designs in white, such as custom window frosting.

Are there ambient temperature requirements? For optimal performance the site temperature should be 50°F to 85°F.

Do you do residential work? Yes, but wall printing is best for commercial enterprises who need reliable reproduction of graphic assets across multiple locations, need their walls to remain quick and easy for housekeeping teams to sanitize, need to ensure low-VOCs and no off-gassing, and need to minimize their carbon footprint to meet sustainability goals.

Do you provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) for enterprise facilities? Yes. Pictzi carries comprehensive general liability and workers' compensation insurance. We issue custom COIs naming your property management as an additional insured before site entry.

How closely can you match brand colors? We utilize calibrated CMYK profiling. When your marketing team provides specific Pantone (PMS) colors, we convert those to CMYK values and then perform on-site spot-testing so you see the exact colors first-hand.

Do you sign NDAs for unreleased corporate campaigns? Yes. It is our standard operating procedure to execute Non-Disclosure Agreements. We adhere to strict confidentiality protocols regarding unreleased branding, secure floor plans, and internal intellectual property.

What file formats do you require from our graphic design team? We prefer vector files (EPS, AI, SVG) for infinite scalability. For rasterized images, high-resolution JPG, PNG, TIFF, or PSD files at a minimum of 300 DPI at scale yield the best results, though we can us AI to scale lower resolution images.

What's your service area? Pictzi HQ is in Fort Myers, FL, and there are no mobilization fees for Marco Island, Naples, Bonita Springs, Estero, Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Port Charlotte, and Punta Gorda.

Do you provide digital mockups before physical printing begins? Yes. We require photos of your target walls so we can superimpose the scaled artwork onto the architecture to verify placement, margins, and obstacle clearance.

What is the procedure if a wall sustains accidental structural damage? If a wall sustains damage, repair the structure and paint it white. Pictzi can then return to digitally reprint just the missing section at the same price/SqFt.

How do you handle site cleanup post-installation? Pictzi guarantees a zero-trace exit. We might even leave the facility cleaner than we found it.

Do you provide a formal Certificate of Completion? Yes. We issue a formal Certificate of Completion detailing the materials used, approximate dimensions, and warranty terms for your corporate asset management records.

Will you store our digital assets for future reprints? Yes. We archive your optimized digital files, precise scale coordinates, and color profiles on secure, redundant servers to ensure rapid execution of future damage repairs or identical rollouts.

Can the printed surface be sanitized with hospital-grade disinfectants? Yes. The cured UV ink is chemically inert. With the application of protective varnish, the surface withstands standard clinical disinfection protocols.

Does Pictzi use backing paper or adhesive substrates? No. We print directly onto your existing architecture, entirely eliminating the plastic, paper, and adhesive waste associated with traditional wall coverings.

Are your prints sent to a landfill when it's time to remodel? No. Unlike vinyl wraps, wallpaper, and acrylic signs that must be torn down and discarded, our prints can simply be painted over with standard eco-friendly primer and paint when a change is desired.

How does Pictzi reduce transportation emissions? Traditional large-format graphics often require shipping heavy, bulky materials cross-country. We only transport our compact printer and concentrated inks to your location, significantly lowering the shipping carbon footprint.

Does your printing process consume or pollute water? Zero water is consumed or polluted during our printing process. Unlike traditional dye-sublimation or screen printing, direct-to-wall UV printing is a 100% waterless technology.

Does the UV curing process release ozone? No. Our modern UV LED curing lamps operate at wavelengths that do not produce ozone, protecting indoor air quality.

Does direct-to-wall printing continue to off-gas over time? No. Once the UV lamp passes over the ink, it cures instantly into a solid, inert polymer. It does not slowly release trapped gasses into your environment like traditional solvent paints.

Are harsh chemical solvents required to clean the wall later? No. Because the cured UV ink acts as a highly durable polymer layer, standard eco-friendly household cleaners are sufficient for surface maintenance.

How does Pictzi’s ink delivery system minimize chemical waste? Our printer uses a bulk ink supply system rather than disposable, single-use cartridges. This drastically reduces the volume of plastic waste per project.

How is the print removed from raw brick or porous stone? You can utilize specialized laser ablation or dry ice blasting. These methods meticulously remove the UV polymer from the substrate's pores without destroying the underlying masonry.

Will the removal process damage historical masonry? It is unlikely. Unlike abrasive sandblasting, dry ice blasting and laser ablation are non-kinetic and non-destructive, making them ideal for heritage sites, historic brickwork, and delicate stone.

Does laser ablation or dry ice blasting remove 100% of the ink? These techniques achieve approximately 98% removal completeness. Microscopic pigment traces may remain within pores, leaving a faint shadow.

Can you print anti-graffiti coatings over outdoor murals? Yes. For exterior enterprise assets, we apply a heavy-duty, UV-resistant, sacrificial anti-graffiti clear coat. This allows vandalism to be wiped away chemically without damaging the print.

How long do exterior prints last before fading? With our UV-resistant inks and a dedicated exterior UV-blocking clear coat, outdoor murals typically resist noticeable fading for 3 to 5 years, depending on direct sun exposure.

Can you print outdoors in direct sunlight? No. Direct sunlight emits UV rays that cure the ink inside our printheads, destroying the hardware. Outdoor printing requires heavy shading or night operations.

Can you print when it's windy? No. Printheads deploy microscopic ink droplets, so crosswinds disrupt drop trajectory. Where possible, we deploy wind-blocking barriers for exposed outdoor installations.

Can you print on exterior walls during rain or high humidity? No. The substrate and air must be dry for proper ink adhesion. Precipitation also poses an electrical and operational risk to our equipment.

Are there temperature limits for exterior installations? Yes. Ambient temperatures must strictly remain between 50°F and 85°F. Extreme cold thickens ink viscosity, while excessive heat accelerates curing unpredictably.

How do you manage uneven ground terrain for outdoor setups? Our printer utilizes a precision-leveled modular track system. We compensate for sloped concrete, uneven soil, or gravel using adjustable staging plates and specialized shims.

Can you print directly onto unpainted, bare brick? Yes. However, highly porous bare brick absorbs ink. We recommend applying a clear, matte masonry primer to seal the pores and ensure vibrant, accurate color reproduction.

How does heavy texture affect the image? Our printheads dynamically adapt to surface variations up to 10mm. Irregular surfaces cause some image distortion or fading in the recesses.

Is a white base coat required for dark stone or brick? Yes, for color accuracy. We deploy our dedicated white ink channel to create a localized, digital primer precisely beneath the artwork on dark, unpainted substrates.

Can you print on exposed, unfinished concrete walls? Yes. Unfinished concrete is an excellent substrate. We sweep the wall to remove loose particulate and apply a specialized bonding agent to ensure long-term ink adhesion.

Do you print on glass or structural acrylic? Yes. We apply a transparent adhesion promoter for glass, allowing our inks to bond to slick, non-porous surfaces.

Can the printer operate on curved surfaces? No. The printer requires a relatively flat, continuous plane. It cannot navigate around tight curves or corners.
